Happy and Joyous Easter
It is here! Easter Joy is ours. God so loved the world that God sent Jesus to us, to live and die and rise again. This is our saviour. Rejoice in the goodness of God's love and then spread that love to those you encounter.

In Religion we have been learning about Holy Week. Now we will learn more about the joys of Easter and the joy of the Lord. We made our money grow in our Make a Dollar program. We have made over $250 just in our room. We are going to think real hard about what we can do to make the world better. And this money is just a small way we can do that. ****
We are really trying to remember the life skills from our Discipline with a Purpose. We continue to work on listening skills because it is such an important skill and right now we are having a really hard time using that skill. But we also strive to follow directions, ask questions, share, understand social skills, cooperation and knowing reasons for rules. When we catch other students following one of these skills we put their name on the chart for that skill. It is fun to see the names on the chart especially when the students put others names on it.

Parents often ask for good websites for their child to use at home. Here are some I like to use: www.starfall.com www.funschool.com www.scholastic.com (click on the kids section) www.kidzone and go to the kindergarten section. More to add are www.unclefred.com/index.html www.weeklyreader.com/index.html and www.funbrain.com Here is a new one I just found. www.prongo.com After you find it there is a game section and also a great list of links. I tried a few of them and most look really good.

In Math we have learned about addition. We are learning to count on when trying to figure out the sum. They are doing real well so far. We will also start learning about solid shapes and plane shapes as well as fractions. But we need to continue working on telling time. Websites specifically to help with telling time.... www.harcourschool.com/activity/telling_time_gr1 www.oswego.org/ocsd_web/games/StopTheClock/sthec1.html www.bbc.co.uk/wales/snapdragon/yesflash/time-1.htm www.mhschool.com/math/2003/Student/activity/courses/gr1/ch19

In Reading we have already learned lots of new words Our list is too long to put on here now. If you would like a new list at home please let me know and I will send you one. We should also be able to blend simple 3 letters words with short a and short i and short o and now short e . We have read 42 little books now and we were really proud of ourselves. When reading with us at home ask questions about the setting, the plot of the story, the characters, what happened, why it happened, etc. This will help your child later to better comprehend what they are reading.
