Kindergarten

(KA) KINDERGARTEN NOTES

School is here and we are really moving right along with lots of studies.

Some of the kinders will be reading petitions at liturgy on the Thurs. Oct. 30.  Pray for them.  Also, remember this is the month of Mary so say the rosary with your child once or twice.  Remember to say hi to Fr. Randy when you see him at church on Sun. 

Our 18 kinders are working hard already.  We are learning to be good Peace Builders and to follow the number one rule.  That rule says "Never hurt anyone on the inside or on the outside."  This is a good rule for all of us to attempt to follow.  Together we make the world a better and more Christian place. 

We have spent time discussing the school rules and consequences.  These are clearly stated in the handbook so everyone is encouraged to familiarize themselves with this information.  We are already a great school so now we endeavor to become a super school.  We each strive to become our best. We are trying very hard to work on our good manners by saying "please" and "thank-you" and "yes, mam" or "no, mam."  They are really doing a great job.  We even got a compliment in the cafeteria. 

In reading class we are already learning to read some words.  We are also learning about characters, settings and syllables. We have already enjoyed reading 16 small books.  Using our few words plus rebus words and pictures we can enjoy the wonders of reading.  It is exciting.  They sometimes don't even realize they are actually reading.  That is a hoot.  Words to know:  God, red, the, cat, am, dog, blue, mom, I, yellow, little, dad, green, have, is, purple, orange.

 In Math we are working on counting skills and writing numbers from 0 - 5.  Reversals for 2 and 3 are always a developmental issue.    The concepts of more, fewer and the same seem to be the most difficult.  Extra work at home may help some students to have a better understanding.
