 About Sister Karen
I am a Benedictine nun from Our Lady of Grace Monastery, Beech Grove, IN. I have been a member of this wonderful community for 40 years.
I have been teaching for 39 years. I have taught in Indianapolis, Tell City and Clarksville, IN. I have taught grades K-4, heading the accelerated learner group at St. Paul Tell City for grades 4 and 5, and was children's liturgist also for grades 1-6.
I began my university studies at what used to be Indiana Central College and is now Indianapolis University. It was funny to see all the sisters step out of our red and white van. It seemed to hold quite a few of us and since we were in full habit it was a sight. The other people on campus called the van the God Squad. I completed both my Bachelor and Master Degree at IUS in New Albany, IN.
My hobbies include singing and playing the baritone ukelele and the upright bass. I play the bass with the folk group at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Clarksville, IN. Come sing and worship with us at the 11:30 liturgy on Sundays. I also love to read. Most of my travels are by the book. My other love is fishing. Give me a nice day, a body of water and a worm and I will let it take a swim.
