Religion: The children will listen to and discuss the blessing of the day and attend Mass on Thursday. They will begin to prepare for their First Reconciliation which will be held on Thursday, November 4th. The children will learn about the greatness of God's forgiving love for us by watching and discussing "The Prodigal Son". They will learn about good and bad choices. The children will also learn the difference between choice, mistake and accident.
Math: The children will use the act it out strategy to solve problems and will use doubles to solve problems. They will use doubles to find other sums and will use technology to view how a calculator solves addition problems. Please drill addition facts(plus 0's, 1's 2's, and 3's) as we will begin "Beat the Clock" tests in the near future.
Spelling Words: talked, talking, dropped, dropping, excited, exciting, lifted, lifting, hugged, hugging, smiled, smiling, dragging, amazed, danced
Literacy Skills:
Vocabulary Words: desert (a part of land that is sandy and without much water), harsh (rough), climate (the kind of weather a place has), cactus (a plant with spines instead of leaves that grows in hot, dry places)
Sight Words: water, full, animals, early, warm, eyes
Reading: The children will be introduced to the vocabulary and will participate in the guided reading and oral reading of " A Walk In The Desert". They will also have the opportunity to listen to this story and read it with partners. The children will read stories according to their reading levels. The children will take their vocabulary and reading tests on Friday.
Skills: Using vocabulary words in context, inflected endings, main idea and details, comparing and contrasting, consonant blends.
Writing: Journals
Grammar: Recognizing the predicate of a sentence. It time, the children will begin to work on the concepts of statements and questions.
Printing: Correct formation of Aa and Dd
Team Time: The children will complete their unit on weather. They will have their test on Wednesday.
