Wednesday: Test on planets, sun and moon Friday: Field trip to the Planetarium
Friday (February 17th): Test on "Joy, Joy the Mass" book. A study guide will be sent home this Wednesday.
Reading logs: due no later than Wed. February 29th
AR Tests: I continue to encourage you to not let your child wait until the end of the month to do his or her 2 AR books. Your child will not be allowed to take his or her tests (or retests) after Wednesday, February 29th. These are comprehension grades. I must receive an e-mail or a note saying your child is ready to take the test. You may access the following web site: arbookfind.com. to check books on the list.

Students are expected to study for their Spelling test and vocabulary test as needed. They are also expected to practice their addition / subtraction facts ten minutes each night.
Religion: The children will complete their "Joy, Joy the Mass" book. They will begin their "First Eucharist" book by experiencing a celebration of the word, including the renewal of Baptismal Promises. They will explore the meaning of the ritual action and will learn that through Baptism, we belong to God and the Church forever.
Math: The children will subtract two 2-digit numbers with and without regrouping. They will check subtraction by using addition and will choose the best strategy to solve a problem. The children will also estimate differences by rounding to the nearest ten.

Reading: The children will be given opportunities to read books according to their reading levels.
Skills: comparing & contrasting and the use of a diagram.
Writing: The children will use the writing process (brainstorm, rough draft, edit and best copy) to write to their pen pals at Notre Dame Academy.
Cursive: Correct formation of "w", "e", "l", "b" & "f". English: Adjectives (number, size, shape and comparing).
Team Time: Solar System Unit (Test on Wednesday)
