Science Extra Credit Alert: Worth 30 points!
Grade 6 Extra Credit Project
Due Date will be December 12. This project will take one month to complete.
If it is completed following the directions, it will be worth 30 points. It will require daily work, so that will be one point per day.
1. Find a notebook with at least 35 clean pages in it. It can be from past years, just tear out the used pages, or a new notebook.
· Observe the moon each night for 30 days.
· Draw, or take a photograph, of the moon each night and place it in the notebook. (If the moon is not visible, look online, in the newspaper, or on a calendar that has this information to see how much of the moon you would have seen.)
1. Record the time of sunrise and sunset for the day. (This can be found in the newspaper, on the TV weather reports, or online.)
2. Record the amount of daylight for each day.
At the end of the 30 days, write your observations.
1. What happen with the moon? How often did your drawings, or photographs change?
2. What happened to the times for sunrise and sunset? Was there more or less daylight each day?
