Other computer activities in the lab are

Kindergarten - JumpStart Kindergarten and JumpStart 1st grade as they learn to read.  Sammie's Science House and Millie's Math House are two new programs that they will work on soon.  We also have drawing programs and SmartBoard activities that they participate in. I-Safe (internet safety) program.  We mostly work with the mouse, not too much keyboarding.

1st Grade - JumpStart 1st Grade, Millie's Math House and Sammie's Science House, drawing programs and Smartboard activities.  KidKeys which introduces keyboard, shift, backspace and space bar. I-Safe (internet safety) program.  Introduction to Kidspiration a pre-writing and organizing tool.  Accelerated Reader testing.

2nd Grade - JumpStart 2nd Grade, Kid Keys, CoreFX (a drawing program), Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word, and a simple spreadsheet project on Microsoft Excel. I-Safe (internet safety) program. Introduction to Kidspiration a pre-writing and organizing tool.  Accelerated Reader testing.

3rd Grade - Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, CoreFX, introduction to Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing (Goal 8-10 wpm), JumpStart 3rd Grade. I-Safe (internet safety) program.  MS PowerPoint, Kidspiration and Accelerated Reader testing.

4th Grade - Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing (Goal 10-15), MSWord, MS Publisher, JumpStart 4th Grade, MSExcel (M&M spreadsheet), and Internet usaage. I-Safe (internet safety) program. MS PowerPoint, CoreFX, Kidspiration and Accelerated Reader testing.  We will be using the new digital cameras, flip video, MP3 players to create podcasts as well.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

5th and 6th grade hall has a mini computer lab that they use all week long.  They come to the main computer lab once a week for instruction.

5th Grade - MSPublisher (school brochure), Mavis Beacon Typing (goal 15-20), MS Word, MSExcel, Internet usage, I-Safe (internet safety) program.  CoreFX, MS PowerPoint and Accelerated Reader testing.  We will be using the new digital cameras, flip video, MP3 players to create podcasts as well.

We have also purchased 11 Kindles (e-readers) that you may see your child bringing home.  Watch for these fun reading devices!

6th Grade - MSPublisher (school brochure), Mavis Beacon Typing (goal 20-25), MS Word, MSExcel, Internet usage, I-Safe (internet safety) program.  CoreFX, MS PowerPoint and Accelerated Reader testing.  We will be using the new digital cameras, flip video, MP3 players to create podcasts as well.

The junior high wing of SSM has a lab of laptops on a cart.  They use these all through the week, and come to the main computer lab once a week for instruction.
