About Mrs. Brooks

I am a native Louisvillian, born and raised. I attended St. Barnabas for 8 years, and then began high school at Assumption. Because of family financial problems I finished my high school education at Seneca High School. It was there that I fell in love with teaching. I wanted to be “just like Mrs. Chadouin,” my Latin teacher. I began college with that goal, but married instead of graduating. It took me a while to get back to school but I did it at the ripe old age of 38!

I have one son who is 31 years old and has a business of his own painting houses. My husband, Jim, just retired (June 2004) after teaching 31 years in the Jefferson County Public Schools. (Don’t worry; I’m keeping him busier than he’s ever been before!) He’s been pulling a lot of sub duty for SSM also, standing in when teachers have meetings or are ill.

I love my job and I love this school. St. Stephen has the best faculty and staff, the best students and of course the best parents. It is just amazing how many friends I have made working ere.
